Theresa’s blog: Jack’s 1st Birthday….

Jack and his mommy on his first birthday
Jack and Mark on Jack's first birthday

Jack is a charming delight of sweet fun, giggly smiles, and focused energy. I don’t completely mind the 2+ (well, sometimes 4+) times a night of wake-ups when I have a happy guy (and a few pots of coffee ready to consume) in the morning.

We’re pretty sure he won’t be lazy. And we’re definitely sure he’s interested in the world.

There were a few set-backs on our porch project during September… None of it due to the level of difficulty or product delivery and not much to do with weather or old house surprises.

Mark has been out of his regular workpants filming for QVC, Stanley product videos, and a new infomercial for Rockwell.

And I have been leading the unglamorous life of stuck to the couch with a hurt back that led into a chest cold that required four kinds of medicine to chase away (thank you Dr. Urbanski for your patience! And thanks to Beth Anne for the extra babysitting!).

Jack's first birthday cake

Jack wasn’t terribly excited about the cake at his party, and he was more interested in the toys after I unwrapped them, but he really  gets a charge out of playing with his friends (there are four baby boys on our block), showing off his ball-throwing skils, his baby noises, and waving for his relatives.

And, we’re lucky that when our friends and family come to visit, they expect to duck under the ladders, skip past the scaffold, and navigate the piles of roof shingles and the general chaos when they come to our FixitUpHome.

Jack's first birthday party

At other first birthday parties, more than one person might comment on the ladders lining our front porch, the cut station in our yard, the bucket screwed to the kitchen ceiling or the hole we cut into the dining room ceiling to lift Jack’s bed into his room. It’s just part of our FixitUpLifeStyle.

Now we’re ready to finish the porch and launch our radio show this coming Saturday.
