The MyFixitUpLife home

When we bought our 100-year-old FixitUp American Foursquare home just outside of Philadelphia, we knew it needed a lot of work, but we’ve had tons of surprises along the way.

Somewhere between making an offer on the house and closing, the 90-year-old Italian woman–whose family lived on the property since before the house was built–died. We inherited all of her furniture (doilies and knick-knacks included), plus the pink shag carpet, flower wallpaper covering every wall, and crumbling plaster walls.

Our kitchen counter was about as big as this screen, our half-bath toilet was slowly making its way into the basement, and we had a 10-gallon bucket screwed to the kitchen ceiling in case the water on the counter is from a leak or its just the coffee maker failing…

Almost-after kitchen project

Our kitchen was most recent project on the renovation list, and the next project they are going to tackle is the roof.

As licensed contractors, and with Theresa’s background in architecture, we’ve been lucky to have access to cool new products, tools, and techniques to make our house into a home to fall in love with.

We are blessed with gorgeous new cabinets, countertop made from recycled FSC-certified paper, wide-plank pine floors, and appliances that seriously work.
