Using Fypon PVC Molding

As much as I love installing a crisp and long-lasting trim job on a house—for which I often use PVC and urethane trim—I find that I utilize PVC for more than decoration. Its uniform structure makes it ideal for laying out round shapes, which I’ve used on everything from decks to bathtub steps to landscaping.

First thing I do is plot the arc or curve. Often there’s not enough room to pull a string back to a distant center point and pull a string tight, so I have to take a different approach.

Essentially (and I’m leaving steps out of this due to space) the trick is to find the termination points of the arc (in this case the edges of the driveway) then drive two nails at those points. Next, I trap a piece of PVC 1-by between those fasteners and flex it. (In the photo the fasteners at the end are behind the PVC.)
