Where there’s water and electricity running through the walls, there’s many opportunities for mistakes to happen in a DIY project. Added to it, the bathroom is one of the busiest rooms in any home and sometimes it can be the smallest, too. It’s a recipe for things to go wrong.

From finished and fixtures to plumbing and ventilation, we’re racing through the biggest mistakes that can thwart any DIYer’s progress and confidence.

Our guest Jeff Devlin has seen it all, and sharing what he’s learned with us during a live Google On-Air chat.

As host of DIY Network’s I Hate My Bath series, Jeff gives homeowners hope with economical yet clever bathroom design ideas using amazing new products and cool tools. Forget about it costing almost a year’s salary to renovate your bathroom. I Hate My Bath tears up real homeowners’ lives and their bathrooms, showcasing along the way impactful alternatives that don’t require loans, demolition or divorce.

Jeff Devlin proves that home renovation can be enjoyable and not intimidating. As a Licensed Contractor and Host of 4 successful Television Shows, his fun and down to earth approach takes both viewers and clients on an empowering journey and before you know it, you’ve hung out with a really cool guy and tackled that daunting project you’ve put off for months! This self-proclaimed big ham is a carpentry nut and family man who can design and build anything.

Tune into DIY, HGTV and A&E to catch one of Jeff’s shows, follow him on Facebook, or hire his company Schoolhouse Woodworking to renovate your home! And Jeff wears tool belt suspenders, so he knows what he’s talking about.

Ka Wi — We’ll ask Jeff!

Ka Wi — Straight from Jeff himself: It was an old tub that we ripped out! That was the before picture!!! I just needed to get in it for context [to show how small it was]. I don’t even think my ankles would have gotten wet In that one.

Where can I get that corner bathtub that is in the top photo?
It might actually fit into my bathroom!

Shannon–We are so sorry. It sounds like you have been taken. By the worst kind of human. I hate to say this because you sound kind, but the best way to beat a bastard like that is to catch it early. A request for ‘gas money’ is a dead giveaway. Always ask for a license and proof of insurance up front. We are so sorry.

i have been in a dilemma for nearly a year. I’m handicapped on a fixed income. A contractor gave me a price to rebuild my shower, but he only tore out my tile. And claimed to have to pay for the disposal of my tile. Then he asked for some money. We had agreed I would purchase all supplies, and then pay him upon completion. But he asked for some gas money, and expenses to come out to the house.
He won’t answer my phone calls, has never came back, changed his number, and moved. I don’t know what to do.
Please advise.
