Hi Roxie — Great question. Rust typically means it’s humid where you are and there’s little you can do about it other than buy coated blades. I’ve had great luck with Freud Diablo. They work great and there’s not a spot of rust on them. As for sharp, only cut what the blade is supposed to cut. Don’t force the saw through the work, guide it. And try to cut as straight as possible. A circular saw blade is a wear item. Treat them well and they’ll last. But once they’re dull, they’re dull. Time for a new one. I hope this helps Roxie.
