Door decorating ideas: 3 ways to celebrate spring

Personalizing my front door for the season or holiday is a favorite and easy way to share a smile with neighbors and friends.

I’ve been enjoying the door decorating ideas on Pinterest, and feeling inspired by the creativity. I’m sharing a few of my favorites.

The FrugalGirls used coasters strung together, adding letters to each of them to spell spring. I’m immediately thinking about using other kinds of material that my toddler could help decorate with our art supplies. This would also be great to spell Party or Boo or even just a year-round Howdy. I also like it as a fun idea to give a gift to Grandma, who lives in a condo: We could put photos of the grandchildren in each square.

Now this idea is perfection to me. The ultimate sign of creativity for me is using objects that have one specific intent in a way that most of us might not ever consider. Housepitality Designs uses a garden hose and gardening tools as door decor. Definitely need a strong wreath hanger for this door art.

Another favorite that I’ve seen this spring is this umbrella filled with flowers from ‘House on the Way.’

If you are inspired by these door decorating ideas and planning to decorate your door for the season or holiday, just remember not to puncture your door. Not only could that void the warranty, even a little hole can cause a door to start deteriorating because weather and water can now get inside.

We talked with an expert at Therma-Tru doors about the best way to hang door art on an episode of MyFixitUpLife talk: ‘Avoid these DIY Don’ts.’
