That’s it right there. Between Theresa and Ty Pennington. Right there next to Tim Williams‘ left foot.
OK, you can’t see it, but it’s there. Promise.
And all the juice for MyFixitUpLife live is surging through it. In fact, we’ve powered up several live shows with it: KBIS, NHS, and this one: Rebuilding Together and Craftsman’s Make A Difference Tour.
On home improvement job sites I call them multi-plugs, “multis”, “4-ways”, “6-ways”, etc. At home or in the office I call them power-strips. Accell calls theirs the PowerSquid Surge Protector and Power Conditioner and it’s my new favorite. (Yes, tool geek that I am, I have had more than one love affair with a multi-).
The reason PowerSquid has wrapped its tentacles around me is that, whether its a job site or a live MyFixitUpLife show, is that so many things we plug in these days have transformer blocks on them. Everything from job site radios to our MyFixitUpLife road-rig to the tangle of wires behind all our cable boxes and under our desks. And because typical power-strips have all their receptacles right next to each other you sacrifice one or two by the time you plug all those blocks in.
Not so with PowerSquid. It has a generous 6-foot “lead” (cord) and its 5 untangled receptacles are spread out—squid- like I suppose—into individual plugs. This strips the strip, freeing up access to all the power the PowerSquid can juice out. And it has bosses (recesses) on the back so I can hang it from a screw on my workbench.
If you’re a video or audiophile, Accell says that PowerSquid delivers uber clean signals and true surge protection, reducing line static caused by dirty power (generators sometimes deliver dirty power). This keeps screen images crisp and audio signals super clear.
What we know is that we can plug in our transformer blocks, mixing board, recorder, Tim’s guitar and usually reach a plug without running for an extension cord, whether it’s a live show or live build. And we can bring it.
Power up.
