FixitUpFind: Ultimate family tablecloth

Meal time is stress-time when you have little ones. Parents, you know the drill.

And from their shorter perspective, we’re disrupting their special projects to make them sit still at a table where there aren’t toys, crayons, or TV.

We’re basically torturing them to consume boring food. No wonder they are rebelling.

And then there’s our parent perspective. We’re a little put out about meal time, too. We’ve invested considerable amount of time to plan, acquire, finance, and prepare the meal. And we were probably engaged in all of these activities while they were laughing, playing, running, and generally being cozy and stress-free inside their childlike bliss.

We go the extra yardage to customize meals just enough so that it is moderately pleasant at the family table, while balancing the nutritional aspect that is important to health and well-being. Even if we want to have fun, we still have that older person’s baggage of ‘responsibility’ slathered all over us.

And while we’re fielding the complaints and encouraging them to sit and eat the food on the special Thomas or Angelina plate that we’ve already cleaned before placing the meal upon it, we know there’s the cleanup in our future. That ever-present clean-up that’s waiting and lurking like a tiger ready to pounce.

So, anything that makes meal time easier is a treat.

'So you want me to cooperate at meal time?'

That’s why I have to share the ultimate family tablecloth. There’s an inexpensive tablecloth that has been a huge time-saver in my world. It not only looks grown-up and stylish, it is spill-proof. Yes, spill-proof.

Go ahead, and try it out. Our 10-year-old has seriously put it to the test. Spill an entire mug of liquid on it. It won’t absorb. You can just lift the entire tablecloth and pour the liquid in the sink. I know. Yes, sadly, from experience.

The McKenna Microfiber tablecloth and napkins are available at Bed Bath & Beyond. You won’t regret this purchase.
