Lexi’s blog: Flower Sketching!

Flowers that I saw at the Wissahickon Water Shed

Hello! Today you will be reading about something very cool I did just today. I was sketching flowers. Now if you’re in Hawaii or Florida this might not be very exciting, but we are in Pennsylvania. And this is the story behind it.

Flowers that I saw at the Wissahickon Water Shed

Dad, my brother Jack, and I were at a place Jack calls ‘The Mud,” which really is the Wissahickon Water Shed. We go there so Jack can throw rocks in the water. We were just about to leave when I saw a single white flower poking out of the ground. I said to Dad, “Look at this!” We decided to come back that Saturday so I could sketch all the flowers I saw.

When we came back on Saturday this is what I saw: I saw some Daffodils. This Daffodil in particular was so beautiful I had to draw it because it was facing its back to me. I could have turned it, but I didn’t. For two reasons: 1. Don’t mess with nature, and 2. It was just so beautiful.

Another flower I saw was an Impatiens. I thought this one was so cool because the two shades of purple blended so well.

Another two teeny-tiny ones I saw were ground flowers. One of them was Myrtle. The other one, neither Dad nor I knew the name of. I drew Myrtle because it caught my eye in the grass.

The last one we saw was called a Hyacinth. I drew it because it had such an irregular figure and had a soft pink.

That was our flower expedition. I hope to do something like it again. Adios!
