Lexi’s blog: How I tried to make a Log Cabin

The wood that I found with slits in it to make the base of my log cabin

Hello! In today’s blog you will be reading about a log cabin I attempted to make, but it didn’t work.

The wood that I found with slits in it to make the base of my log cabin

The entire idea of making a log cabin came from a book I’m reading in school called ‘Sign of the Beaver‘. It takes place in the time of the colonies. A boy and his family are moving from Quincy, Massachusetts to Maine. But, first the cabin must be built, so the boy (his name is Matt) and his father go without the rest of the family to build the cabin. I have enjoyed the book very much. Hey! I don’t know, but maybe you’ll like it. Give it a try!

So, first I got a hammer, nails, glasses, and a tape measure. Then, I found some perfect (or so I thought) pieces of wood with little slits for the bases. Next, I put in pieces of wood that would fit in the slits. After, I got some mud from our compost bin to chink, but the mud didn’t make the wood stay. So next I tried nails, but my base wood was sooo thick I could hardly get the nail through! So, then I gave up.

Overall, I’ve learned a lot from this attempt. I’ve learned that first, you should know what you’re about to attack. Second, have the right tools, and third BE PREPARED. You don’t know what you’re facing.

Thanks for reading and if you try to make a cabin, be more prepared than me.
