Mark’s home improvement know-how | Go gorilla on weatherstripping

I mean seriously, how big of a home improvement relief is it to fix that thing that…well…I’ll get to it?

The weatherstripping peeling off the door of my truck is one such ‘I’ll get to it’. But then every time I went to fix it, I really didnt’t have the right thing for it. So then, guess what: I didn’t fix it.

This is one of those projects where fixing it risks making it worse.

Why? There’s a million kinds of glue, sure. I’m a home improvement contractor and I own lots of ’em. But there’s really only one way to get the glue there—a very short nozzle.

The last thing I want is to do is repair one problem and create another one, ex: A lousy repair or a mess, or both! Twitter version: Gobbing glue in there means drips, glue that dries too fast, and gaps because this is just not a place squirting glue will work well. I have that house fix T-Shirt.

Enter the best nail polish brush ever. It’s on Gorilla Glue’s Super Glue Brush & Nozzle.

All I did was paint it on. It ‘tacked up’ giving me ample time to put the weatherstripping back in place.

Hi, ingenuity, I like you.

Knowing I didn’t have any errant drips or runs that would ruin the job was awesome.

Glue on, I had time to re-position the weatherstripping and make sure there was a good grab. YES!

How much do I enjoy this kind of day-to-day fix it stuff?

Every time I open and close my truck door. And that, to me, is the point of home improvement projects big and small. It’s not all about blasting through fences and makeovers and whatevs all the time. It’s about fixing what we’ve got like our parents and grandparents did. And, in doing so, making life better.
