Mars. Out of this world home decor.

Marvin+The+Martian

‣ MyFixitUpLife Marvin the Martian and Bugs Bunny made it look simple to exist on Mars. But thinking that it could be actually possible for real people to exist on Mars seemed completely unreal.

Until about 15 years ago when I met my friend Amy’s dad who had just become the first person to publish a paper that a rock contained evidence for life on Mars.

Research like David McKay’s has opened this world where a initiative like Mars One can exist and actually seem possible. Mars One’s mission is to establish a human settlement on the planet Mars in 2023. No joke.

“We invite you to participate in this journey, by sharing our vision with your friends, by supporting our effort and, perhaps, by becoming the next Mars astronaut yourself.” They have listed requirements for applicants. (Seriously. You should really check this out.)

“Mars is there, waiting to be reached,” said astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

And as my friend Amy’s family has just lost her father, I’m thinking about Mars again. And curious to see how the possibility of an ‘out of this world lifestyle’ unfolds.
