How did I make my Buddha happier? I decided to paint my Buddha.

My husband Mark took me to indulge in dessert at Planet X Cafe at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware last week. And even before dessert, I was smiling.

It was the laughing Buddha who greeted us at the bar. He charmed me.

The next day I searched online, and ordered a laughing Buddha for our home.

Buddha fits perfectly into the current mojo of our home: We’ve been becoming more mindful of Feng Shui lately, while also trying to clear out the clutter from our home to walk a little lighter on the planet. The art of letting go can be tough for a DIY dreamer like me. I see potential in every object.

When Buddha arrived, he made me smile. But something in his happy smile told me that he might be happier in a different color. I needed to paint my Buddha. So I immediately updated Buddha in a new hue, Sea Glass by Krylon.

I chose to paint my Buddha this light-blue-green hue because in Buddhism, it represents wisdom, tranquility, purity, and healing. It fits our current life-stage of being mindful, and living a little lighter.

So enter the power of laughing Buddha, who is known for bringing good luck, abundance, happiness, success, and good health.

And now Buddha lives facing our entry door. It’s a perfect spot to rub his belly for good luck at the start and end of every day.
