Powered-Up Solution: Leviton’s USB/Receptacle

Leviton’s double barrel USB/Receptacle Device: A well-designed problem solver.

Full disclosure: Our kitchen counter, office desks, and several outlets NOT behind a couch are a tangle of charger cords and transformer cubes.

Kind of a mess.

The more devices powered-up by cube/USB combo-cords the more likely I’ll misplace or lose one end, which is a time-consuming and expensive pain. We’re also sick of looking at it AND we’re running out of space to plug other things in, like the toaster.

The solution that overpowers the problem is Leviton’s systematically designed USB/Receptacle device. Part plug, part double-barrel USB port, the unit increases the places you can plug in, eliminates the need for transformer cubes and cleans up a mess.

You can retrofit them into existing boxes or add them as you remodel (like we’re doing). We just installed two in a bookcase project and we already love them—the bookcase isn’t even built yet. They also make sense anywhere else you plug in: office, bedroom, etc.

The left USB port is Type A, 2.0 and the right port 3.0. An item like phone only requires the lower draw, while an item with a larger battery doesn’t get enough juice, so the right side can refuel e-readers, tablets, etc.

The face-plate styles are cleanly designed. And, you still get at 15A/125V Tamper-Resistant Receptacle. Or for the kitchen, we love this: a 20A receptacle for plugging in old school stuff like toasters or your George Foreman Grill (do they still make those?)

If you didn’t lose your transformer cube, you can plug that in if you want.

Power up. Problem, meet solution.
