QuickFix: Touch up appliances, wood, tile

Life gives the gifts of scratches and dents, and while you can treasure the memories of those moments, you might not want the evidence to last. Especially when you have guests coming over.

There are a few simple ways to touch-up little nicks and scratches in your flooring, appliances, tile, and more.

No, you don’t have to completely refinish your floor or buy a new dryer to give your home an almost-new look. And while little touch-ups will admittedly never be exactly perfect like new, they will help camo the worn parts so they fade into the background a little better.

Appliances. There is actually touch-up paint for chips and scratches in white, black, and almond metal appliances, including stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, and more.

Wood. There’s a touch-up stick that can help with wood flooring, too. Most home improvement and paint centers offer stain and poly sticks that can help cover up the scratches in wood flooring, cabinets, furniture, and more. And if you are really in a pinch crack open a walnut and use the oil from the nut to help color in scratches.

Tile. If you have extra tile on hand, the best way to repair tile is to cut out the tile, scrape out the thin set, and then replace the tile. To make it easier, cut a small piece of Bondera to replace the tile, so you don’t have to deal with messy adhesives. An alternative for replacing the tile is filling in the cracks with epoxy and then painting over the epoxy to match the color of the tile. It’s important to seal the tile when it’s dry.
