Old doors sometimes mean squeaky hinges. Quiet those squeaks and creaks with some spray lubricant like Teflon spray or WD-40. You only need a little. Have a paper towel with you to chase drips. Teflon spray is nice because it works and is low-odor.

Here’s a quick-fix for locks and knobs that are hard to turn. Give them a sip of Teflon spray. Turn the knob or throw the bolt a bunch of times to get the lubricant inside the mechanism.
