Shopping for a chandelier can be overwhelming until you can unlock some of the mystery.

Whether your style is coastal casual or art deco or industrial funk, there is a chandelier for you. With finishes ranging from wood and wrought iron to upcycled bottles and fishing lures to crystal and brass, lighting designers and DIYers who are sharing their ideas on Pinterest and Instagram offer truly something to suit all of our unique home decorating tastes.

Before getting started shopping for a chandelier of your dreams, you may want to arm yourself with the practical elements of finding the perfect light. Knowing the width, type of light, and how high it should hang off of the table or floor is essential. Without that knowledge in hand, you may fall in love with a treasure that may not suit your home.

I shared a few chandelier tips with HOSS magazine, and that blog is linked below.

If you love home design and decorating, I hope you’ll stop by our weekly Twitter chat with Hoss magazine editors on Wednesdays at 8pmET. Just search for #HOSSdesign, and tweet us a hello.
