For awhile when I was 8ish I didn’t know how to pick out appropriate clothes for the weather. To fix the problem, I made a weather chart.
A weather chart is a list of temperatures. Next to them are the appropriate clothes that I should wear for that temperature. For instance, when it is 60 degrees I’ll wear long pants — such as jeans and a t-shirt.
I had thought this was a pretty good plan, but I had one flaw. I had been dressing for the low.
So if the low had been 60 degrees and the high had been 90 degrees I would have been very hot in my long pants indeed! But HOORAY — Theresa solved my problem by telling me that I should average the temperatures. To average is one way to find the middle number. For me to average I had to first add the two temperatures, the low and the high.
Example:
25 + 89 = 114
Next I must divide 114 by 2 since there are two numbers.
Example:
114/2 = 57.
So then I look at my chart to figure out what outfit is the best for 57 degrees. Then it’s off to the closet.
I hope you find this idea useful.
