Taking out the kitchen

Kitchen before the remodel

We’re demoing our kitchen this week. (…deep breath here)

It’s a big job and a huge life-changer in the way I take care of my family. Leading up to this, I spent the last week packing my entire kitchen, cooking meals and stuffing my freezer, and setting up a temporary kitchen in my dining room.

It hasn’t been much fun and somewhat maddening in a few ways, but I’m hoping it will pay off in time saved searching for things, and money saved that we would have spent eating out or ordering in.

New Energy Star appliances are on the way, and I’m grateful for money we saved ordering them during a special sale at Sears earlier this season.

And I’m truly excited about the promise of a garbage disposal and dishwasher. We haven’t had those in a half-dozen years, and I imagine that I’ll have a few more hours in every day because of them.

I’m probably imagining a much larger fantasy involving way too much fanfare and glamour, but I’ll indulge those inner-dreams and pretend that we are about to enter a world of luxury with the new kitchen.

Well, we are. Right?
