Backyard parties are my favorite place to celebrate everything in our family. And lighting in layers can help make that happen.
So why is layering essential when you are selecting lighting?

Let me explain.
Not having lighting options in any space, and backyard parties are included here, is like not having a few different chairs or shoe options.
There are chairs for eating, for lounging, for working. And there are shoes for exercise, for date night, and for working. Same goes for lighting.
Think about how special it feels when the lights dim at a restaurant and they light the candles. How nurturing it feels when you sit around a campfire. Or how difficult it would be to do your taxes by a string of holiday lights.
As the day evolves, and as the natural light changes, we have the ability to adjust our mood and atmosphere to meet whatever activity we want to do just by using the lighting options in our spaces. So if you are into backyard parties like I am, think about adding a few layers to your outdoor designscape. You’ll be delighted that you did.
