4 Ways to Decorate Easter Eggs

It’s that time of year when we celebrate springtime and we decorate Easter eggs.

Easter eggs can be more than just hardboiled eggs dipped into colored water and vinegar. There are so many other options. And even if you don’t celebrate Easter, ideas for decorating eggs can translate into ideas for decorating throughout the year.

Here are a few of my favourite ways to personalize Easter eggs.

String theory. Use twine, string or yarn to wrap plastic or hardboiled eggs in colourful patterns. Use glue and start at the top to wind around the egg until it’s covered from top to bottom.

Wrap it up. Plastic eggs become stylish when wrapped in graphic fabric. The trick to getting a smooth finish is to cut the fabric in strips, and wrap long-ways.

Shine time. Aluminum foil can make for an impressive egg covering if you smooth it out with the back of a spoon. After the foil is smooth, add embellishments to further make your creation even more upscale.

Chalk talk. Use chalkboard paint to cover eggs so that you can write fun messages or names of brunch guests for place cards.

If you are inspired by any of these egg-cellent ideas, gather a collection of them into a stunning wreath for your front door. And you don’t have to decorate eggs. Styrofoam balls, starfish and other springtime shapes are perfect for getting any of these DIY treatments.
