DIY HVAC maintenance is…yeah…NO. Look, we’re all about DIY and taking on a challenge. But, we’re also all for not screwing up expensive, complicated equipment.
Plus, it doesn’t matter how many tools you have. You don’t have the right ones.

Sure you can tweak vent pressures and keep cold air returns unobstructed. And you can keep the area around the heat exchanger outside clear of debris and trash can and tall grass, but when it comes to adjusting the blower motor and other parts inside the unit, this is a specialized area of expertise that requires instruments. Not wrenches and hammers and hubris.
So if you’re inclined to try your own DIY HVAC maintenance, our advice: Don’t.
