How to easily paint lace on a vintage side table

I love shopping at Habitat for Humanity ReStore because there are so many charming vintage finds that are in excellent condition. When I spied this little charmer, I decided that I’d mix pink and blue in a lace technique for this vintage side table makeover. It’s easier than you might think to paint lace on a tabletop.

I like experimenting with paint and patterns. When I saw this charming side table, I was inspired to go full-on feminine and mix a soft blue and pink to create a sophisticated vintage feel. And I wanted to use the colors in a painted lace technique.

How did I makeover this side table?

The vintage side table has a charming shape, and I wanted to stay true to its delicate details when selecting the a main color for the sides, so I chose a soft grey called Piston.

For the top I used a lace technique with Ballet Slipper and Ocean Breeze.

But I think everything needs a bit of an unexpected edge, so I painted the inside a bold pink called Watermelon and then outlined the top with black to create a bit of drama. I also clear-coated the top so that the surface would be durable enough to withstand my super active family.
