A Custom Shed is Better with Window Flower Boxes

Shed MyFixitUpLife Mark window boxes shiplap

One of our favorite clients wanted a custom shed with window flower boxes so her view from the house into the backyard was charming. So we made sure to create the look she wanted.

How we created this custom shed with window flower boxes

She already had outdoor storage, but it was at the entrance of the backyard and not as welcoming as she wanted it. So, we created a new custom shed tucked into the back of the yard. It’s a little sturdy structure that has custom shelves exactly where she needs them to store all of her yard items from the weather.

We went horizontal with the Southern pine shiplap this time from Niece Lumber and foundation blocks from Ambler Coal. Added 30-pound tarpaper to hedge my bets from wind-driven rain getting up in there.

Adding the window flower boxes to the shed was an important element to her design. And the flowers add charm to the backyard landscape.

What did we do in the former shed space?

Now the former shed space was now an open area. So, we built a privacy screen fence around that new sitting area, too.

Instead of just making a more solid wall, she wanted to be able to connect with her neighbors, a family with kids who enjoy playing in their backyard. With some custom details along the rail, there’s just enough of a little bit of visual break to make the yard feel a little more cozy.
