Paper clip art is fun, especially on National Paperclip Day, May 29th.

My fascination with obscure and quirky National Day celebrations has given me this opportunity to talk about making paper clip art.

Ah, paper clips. An artist’s brain sees possibilities in everything, even with paper clips.

Simple to manipulate, inexpensive, and easy to acquire, paper clips can be a fun medium to use to create wall art, lighting fixtures, rugs, and more.

But of all of the creativity that I’ve spied, the two little paper clips holding hands is my favorite little charmer. There’s something simple and sweet in the little paper clip people, because of course I see an entire story in the art. And just like any good art, the success is in how it makes us feel.

So grab a box of and celebrate National paper clip day with a new creation or just to use in the traditional, paper-gathering sense. It’s every year on May 29th.

Here are a few of my favorite paper clip art creations.

Paper clip art couple
Paperclip friends seem like the best of friends. Simple and heartwarming.
Paper clip art dream catcher
Made big or small, paper clip dream catchers can be made with colorful clips and a hoop.
Paper clip art floor runner
Paperclip floor runner may not be the most practical, but it surely dresses up a boring stair. Maybe it’s better suited as wall art in a stairway?
Paper clip art radiator
Paper clip radiator is an oversized fun option.
Paper clip art trumpet
Paper clip trumpet is a fun little drawing.
