A wood wine buddy is easy-to-make, and easy to give.

If you are in need of a hostess holiday gift or just want a novel present to share with friends, I’ve got the answer: Wood Wine Buddy.

Allison Oropallo made this Wine Buddy, which was inspired by her dad. You’ll have to watch the video below to find out how.

I asked a favorite DIY guru Allison Oropallo to share a favorite holiday project with me, and the viewers on blab’s DIY Con.

No hesitation. She answered: Wine Buddy.

Since I’m in the demographic of mom-in-my-30s-or-40s, I know that most all of my peers will be happy to hear those two lovely words together.

But it gets better. A wood wine buddy is an easy project, and it’s easy to personalize for whomever will receive a wine buddy.

If you DIY a lot, you’ll have the supplies already in your workshop. And if you don’t DIY a lot, you’ll just need a few things.

Supplies needed for this project:

  • piece of wood
  • spade bits on an impact driver for the holes
  • oscillating tool for the notches
  • sandpaper
  • paints and brushes, or glue and embellishments to personalize the Wine Buddy

About Allison. Allison Oropallo is a do-it-yourself’er living in the SF Bay Area, and a STEM teacher, working with kids everyday to inspire and channel creativity and hands-on solutions. Allison appeared on Season 2 of HGTV All American Handyman and was voted fan favorite. Allison has also worked with HGTV designer, Shelly Lynch-Sparks, on “No Mans Land” on DIGS Network. After cutting out the holes with a spade bit on my drill, I sanded it, so it would be ready for paint.
It’s the holidays, so I reached for a can of Glitter Blast from Krylon.
I’m pretty psyched about this project. It would be easy to carry on a plane, too. And that’s not something I can say often about a DIY gift.
I was smitten like a kitten to see the inside of one of Allison’s workshops. She’s a dedicated STEM teacher by day, and always an inspiring DIYer.
