It may seem a little too rustic for many who are transitioning out of the trendy farmhouse vibe, but barrel home decor can be integrated into a casual style that exudes piles of charm.

Plus, barrels have been used as seats, storage, and tables for as long as coopers have been patiently attaching long strips of wood to a metal hoop.

Modern barrel home decor

But these days, furnishing companies are recreating the barrel into other design elements. Clocks, mirrors, dog beds, fruit trays, and even water fountains are either upcycled from used barrels or made to look like they were repurposed. In industrial, masculine luxe, or farmhouse styles, the vertical lines of the wood with the metallic bands fit right in. But, paired with natural light, plants, white-ish neutral, and soft snuggle-able textures, barrel decor can melt right into the modern biophilic-styled setting.

After spying a few of these barrel home decor items, I started searching for more barrel home ideas. One place I looked was pretty obvious. However, there are no barrels for sale at Crate & Barrel, but they do offer a variety of upscale crates.

Barrel DIY upcyle projects?

If you are into barrels in a bolder way, a themed room that combines every kind of barrel item could be fun. To be truly authentic, create a unique upcycle from a used barrels or their smaller cousin the cask.

It’s pretty easy to find them for sale online with a quick used barrel search. Just keep in mind that a typical barrel holds about 55 gallons, so shipping can be a bit pricey.

Would you live or sleep in a barrel?
