How To Build A Gate For A Deck

There are so many reasons why you may need to know how to build a gate for a deck. While a gate might not have seemed necessary when the deck was originally built, a new puppy or the youngest member of the family starting to scoot or walk can make this project rank high on the list of things to do.

Here are some tips, tools, and materials you may want to consider when adding a gate to a deck.

How To Build a Gate

About 99 percent of gates need a diagonal brace to hold them true. In this system, lap joints, careful cutting, and screws do the business of the diagonal brace.

They create a rigid frame and a sweet look. This new gate is a seamless addition to the deck.
