Grab some tips to makeover your clothes closet with Genevieve Gorder, and make a difference for kids with shoes that grow five sizes.
Today’s guests are helping us get empowered and inspired to downsize Theresa’s shoe ‘collection.’ Designer Genevieve Gorder, first known as the barefooted designer on TLC’s ‘Trading Spaces,’ shares her design talent on HGTV’s ‘Genevieve’s Renovation,’ ‘Dear Genevieve,’ ‘HGTV Star,’ ‘A Hero’s Welcome Home,’ and hosting HGTV’s White House Christmas Specials, and her new lifestyle web series A Well Designed Life on ulive.com. An alumna of The School of Visual Arts, Genevieve Gorder has worked in studios throughout Europe and New York City.
Kenton Lee created ‘The Shoe That Grows‘ while he was living and working in Nairobi, Kenya in 2007. One day he noticed a little girl in a white dress who had shoes that were way too small for her feet. That led to questions about why. And finally an idea: “Wouldn’t it be great if there was a shoe that could adjust and expand – so that kids always had a pair of shoes that fit?” Boom.
More than 2 billion people in the world suffer from soil-transmitted parasites and diseases. The Shoe That Grows adjusts five sizes and last five years, providing better protection and better health for children who have shoes that don’t fit, or no shoes at all. You can buy a pair on TheShoeThatGrows.org or order the $10 shoes for a child in Ecaudaor, Haiti, Ghana, Kenya, or around the world with Hands of Hope.
