Tool review: DeWalt 20-Volt MAX XR Lithium-Ion cordless recip saw

This tool review put the compact DeWalt recip saw through some tough demo

With the DeWalt 20-Volt MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Reciprocating Saw in hand, it’s time to say goodbye to the 1950s era ceiling.

Looks like the ceiling was some kind of early drywall product with a painted brown coat of plaster parged over the entire surface. Hard as concrete, it rounded over my recip blades.

While it has a 20-volt max, it doesn’t perform on the 20 volts for long. However, this little 12-volt has some vibranium in it. It’s all-on and you can feel it.

I love the compact design for use in tight spaces. I can see an electrician or plumber getting more use out if it than me, as my work is general remodeling.

The mattock for getting in behind the drywall was gold. The DeWalt 20-Volt MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Reciprocating Saw is now my go-to drywall demo tool.

The 3M face shield is an absolute must-have for overhead work, too.

Have you tried the DeWalt 20-Volt MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Reciprocating Saw? What kind of projects has it performed well or not-so-well? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
