Expandable hose: Does it work?

Seems you can’t turn on the TV without seeing a pitch for an expandable hose. And all the promises are the same—magic, effortless, just that easy. Well is it? Do they really work?

DAP’s X Hose Pro expandable hose delivers. The brass fittings are great.

DAP sent us their X-Hose Pro (the inventor does that ad) for deck cleaningand household chores. We also used it pressure washing and for other clean-ups on Save My Bakery builds. From pumping out water to crinkling up, the X Hose Pro is every bit as good as its inventor says.

Expansion, contraction. From a wrinkly coil to 25-feet long—and back again—DAP’s X-Hose Pro is a get-it-done garden hose. It does the stuff a hose is supposed to do, but better. I have two 25-footers linked and they crinkle up to their original size, no problem. And because DAP’s expandable hose has a 3/4-inch inside diameter, it delivers water where I want it in the volume I need.

Storage. Storage is a super-cinch. It stores more like an extension cord than a garden hose. We kept it coiled in our mega-tool truck on Save My Bakery. It stayed—neatly—out of the way when we didn’t need it; an easy to grab-and-go when we did. Awesome.

Fittings. The fittings on this expandable hose are fantastic. Brass, beefy, and with a stout lever shut-off—I am in love with this feature. Attach or detach the hose from a pressure washer or move a sprinkler without having to run back to the spigot or pinch the hose. From deck cleaning to gardening, landscaping to clean-ups this fitting alone is a time-saver.

This expandable hose works. And it makes projects from DIY clean-ups to pro power-washing easier and faster. And I didn’t even invent the thing.
