Feeling Derpy? DIY a Derpy Deer

And how, pray tell, does someone DIY a deer derpy? It’s easy. First, get a chainsaw…

Derpy Deer is branches from a tree. Two ‘crotched’ branches make the legs. A thicker branch makes the body and some ‘parts’ make up the head and tail. Derp.
I cut the logs to length, then notched out the body to accept the ‘crotched’ (Y-shaped) branch legs.
Next, I made this face. I also drilled some big ole pilot holes so the screws I used would reach through the log into the other pieces.
My nephew helped. He was nervous, but hung in there. Screws through the body into the legs got the job done.
More pilot holes and screws. My nephew is getting the hang of all this.

My nephew helped. He was nervous, but hung in there. Also, pilot holes and some screws socked everything together nice and tight.

Back to the chainsaw again. I used Worx Tools electric chainsaw for making Derpy Deer’s face and I loved it. I used it for a bunch of other projects and that plug-in bad boy cut some wood. Look at those chips pouring out of there. And unlike me, it’s quiet.
