The hay-fever train is steaming its its way down the seasonal allergy tracks at our house. And I’ll do anything I can to get out of the way.
It’s stirring up all the pollen, dust mites, pet dander and allergens it can in a dust cloud of sneezes, itchy eyes, and weeks of discomfort (and rolled-up tissue grossness, to put a fine point on it).
Besides over the counter salvation in the form of Zyrtec, I also wash my hands and face often and do what I can to not stir up any dust. To that end, my furnace is getting a present this Spring: Lysol’s Triple Protection Air Filters.
Lysol’s filters are the first ever certified “asthma & allergy friendly” by The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Lysol says the new filters trap high levels of allergens before they’re blowing around in your house via your HVAC system. The filters are infused with a natural, safe, and odorless antimicrobial to protect the filter and activated carbon to neutralize household odors. Lysol will even remind you when it’s time to change them.
What I also like is that Lysol says these filters–which have about 50% more surface area to work better and last longer than others–allow air to pass easily. This means your furnace isn’t working as hard to pull the air through it, making mites less mite-y and dander less dander-ous.
