So call me a bookworm, but I love to know where things come from and how they come about. I love clothes and fashion. And Bravo’s Project Runway. So when I read the blurb of Tim Gunn’s new book, Tim Gunn’s Fashion Bible, that starts with, “In the beginning there was a fig leaf…” I had to know more.
Turns out fashion-forward Gunn has dug far back to reveal clothing’s journey from Togas to Cleopatra, from corsets to skinny jeans to Madonna‘s cone bra. In the Fascinating History of Everything in Your Closet, Gunn writes about how Beau Brummell created the look men have worn for more than a century. And, whether you’re into fashion or not, anyone who connects the dots between cargo capri pants and a plague on our nation, well, I’m looking forward to a little laugh while I learn something.
