Need to organize a small closet? Stow it away

Organizing a small closet for a new baby presents a fun design opportunity. There is so much cute to fit inside the small space, and then, most everything a baby needs is small, too. But beyond the receiving blankets and linens, when it comes to clothes and toy storage, there’s always so much you have on hand for that next month when the baby has outgrown everything, again.

When working on storage solutions, it’s always best to try to make the most of any space —but it’s critical for a small space that serves an important need. And for a mommy, there’s no more important need than a new baby.

We thought about building a custom closet full of shelves for this nursery, but with time ticking for a delivery, we looked into finding another solution. We chose to use EasyCloset by The Stow Company for a nursery makeover, and the new mommy is thrilled with the results.

Here’s what we did: Our EasyCloset.com order by The Stow Company arrived within just two days of placing the order in several organized packages.

To prepare, we removed the existing 30-year-old shelf and splintering wooden hanging rod then painted the interior of the closet in a plum shade by Olympic Paint for a nice pop of color.

Not only is the closet small, the closet also presented a design challenge: There is an access door to the bathroom plumbing. EasyClosets’ online design tool helped us come up with a simple but effective solution.

Design challenge for this closet: the bathroom access panel

The closet was quick and easy to install and the automatic “room for error” deductions the EasyCloset design tool makes meant we for a perfect fit, despite the not-so-perfect walls inherent with an older home.

And here’s the finished closet! Colorful and organized. Looks like the new mommy (and grandmas) have an excuse to go shopping for more baby clothes!

The 'After' Nursery Closet

The proud parents don’t even remember the before!
