I tested Hitachi’s C12LSH 12-inch dual-bevel slide compound miter saw on my jobsites, trimming and power-cutting framing and other stock. The saw has lots of bells and whistles (okay, digital read-outs and a laser); because of that, it appears an attractive buy when scouting new equipment. After getting down and dusty on site, however, I found the experience of using the machine a mixed bag.
Clean Cutting
The C12LSH has gobs of belt-driven power. I like that, because I use miter saws for cutting everything from 6-by and framing stock to sweet-as-you-please trim. Enough juice means I can choose what I use the saw for. The unit is also very accurate right out of the box. 90 was 90 and 45 was 45.
