How Can My Washing Machine Smell So Bad?

Tide Washing Machine Cleaner.

My high efficiency washing machine smells one of those smells. It doesn’t knock you off your feet, but it is creepy. And it lingers.

I hate it which is why I’m going to run to the store (actually, just put it on the list; we have our groceries delivered) to get Tide’s new Washing Machine Cleaner. According to Tide, high efficiency clothes washers use less water than their agua-guzzling predacessors which allows more goop and hardwater stuff to build up on the washer’s internal surfaces. It doesn’t take long for that residue to start smelling rotten.

Using an oxygenated bleach, Tide Washing Machine Cleaner gets at the goop and leaves behind a crisp scent according to Tide—and according to most of the customer reviews.  Just make sure you follow the directions as you use it.

What’s that smell? Oh, nothing. Love it.
