New IRC Deck Code, Sizing Portable Generators Help

There’s a change in the IRC’s deck codes that’s important for deck builders and homeowners to know about. Generac offers free portable sizing calculator for figuring out the right size needed.

According to Australian physicist Ruben Meerman, if we lose 10 pounds, then 8.4 pounds are exhaled as CO2. 

The rest–about 1.6 pounds–is converted to water and we excrete it as tears, sweat, or urine.

The 2021 IRC has a new section that affects deck building’s guard-post-to-frame attachment: R507.10 on exterior guards.

No longer will connections that rely solely on fasteners in end grain be allowed in those municipalities adopting this updated IRC deck code. They must be attached to prevent rotation of the joist or beam.
