Jack’s blog: Budget talks & doing stuff right

Jack crunching numbers on the calculator

Don’t worry about it.

That’s what I do whenever somebody says ‘budget.’ I mean budget sounds like a funny word. Go ahead and say it like 5 or 16 times. Kinda what a frog might say to another frog who is in the way, right?

Anyway. When I do a job, it’s about doing it right. And sometimes that means having to say no to a job because the cash isn’t available to do the job right.

Now, when it comes to things like a hole in your roof or a hole in your floor or if your stairs fell down or something, you might have to give something up like extra sandwiches or a new fire engine. Then you have the cash to fix it so other stuff doesn’t get messed up.

But, might as well get stuff done right the first time. And sometimes that means you have to wait for when you get sent money. For me, my grandma sends me $5 every holiday, so I know I have cash coming in pretty regularly for stuff I want to do.

Now, I don’t like to wait. Especially when it’s time to eat. But, Mommy always makes sure I never have to wait too long. She’s always telling me to have patience. I don’t know what that thing is, but she thinks it’s a pretty good thing to have on hand. So, if it’s in your budget, you should get one of those.
