Kitchen makeover project! Let’s talk about that kitchen sink.

What are some things to consider about the kitchen sink that will make everyday a little better?

The kitchen sink, to me, is more than a tool. It is a location. A destination. A place inside my home where, if you think about it, a lot of life happens.

Of course, it’s a tool too. The sink is as much vessel for cups of water, coffee maker filling location as it is a metaphor for what we’re really here for. As you’ll see in the Elkay sink video the project we installed this sink in is a generational story. After it was installed, I went back to take photos. Yeah, “best Grandpa ever” tells the whole story. Like it was waiting for me to find it.

OK, moving on.

Can’t make it up. This kitchen sink story is a generational story. Come on in.

In this kitchen makeover project we chose an Elkay Crosstown stainless sink and it is awesome for all the right reasons.

This Elkay vessel is extra awesome. Deep. Offset drain…LOVE. And rounded corners.

– It’s extra deep so there’s more room for, well, everything.
– Dishes don’t feel “piled up” in this kitchen sink. There’s space for larger items like bread makers or juicers.
– The drain is offset. Rather than being a hole things fall into, its location toward the back of the sink gives more useable working area inside the bowl.
– The corners are rounded. No food or particles can gather. They’re easy to clean and graceful to look at.

One handle. One sprayer. One counter top hole. One handle. That’s sleek, man. Sleek and cool and fun to use.

– The Harmony faucet–also Elkay–is a single-mount faucet/sprayer. Simple. Functional. Elegance.

The bottom grid is as functional as it is beautiful.

– The sink comes with a bottom grid. Awesome for keeping kitchen items off the base of the sink.

The craftsman in me loves this. It’s the details, like these sound dampening panels. You’ll never see them but they make the sink experience the thing of beauty it should be.

– It’s insulated for a solid sound. Most stainless steel sinks aren’t. However, the majority of Elkay’s stainless steel sinks are now coming with sound dampening pads. Extra-deluxe in my book.

It’s these little added pieces of awesome that separate this Elkay sink and faucet combo from the rest of the pack. As I like to say, you can make it with just about anything, but you make it awesome with Elkay.
