My search for a left-handed can opener

Shopping for a left-handed can opener is way more difficult than I imagined.

A misstep down my attic stairs provided me the reason to research left-handed can openers. A right shoulder SLAP tear made it difficult to use a right-handed can opener. I realize that only 10 percent of people are left-handed, but I still was surprised to find the product offerings to be quite slim.

What are left-handed can opener options?

Left’s the Left Hand Store. The bold orange hue gives this left-handed manual can opener a pop of modern, but purchasers say the price of $21.99 is a little high for the quality. Manual right-handed can openers of similar quality are about half the cost.

Kitchen Mama. Electric can openers are perfect for any dominant hand, since they operate automatically. The Kitchen Mama battery-operated can opener seemed to be higher quality than the manual opens, but it stopped working after just a few weeks. Not exactly worth the $24.88 price tag.

Williams Sonoma. The thrill of the automatic can opener outshone the disappointment of its short life. I went in search of another battery-powered gem, and found the EasiCan Can Opener from Williams Sonoma. While the previous purchase had no shipping added due to my prime membership, shipping added $6.99 to the $19.95 price. The little red opener happily wiggled its way to opening cans, but it had a short life. It didn’t last a week. The opener jammed in one of my cans, and bent. It never wiggled again.
