My first tool belt matched my skills at the time: basic.
It was a suede-leather apron-type, and I wore the bags in front. I loaded them with framing nails; the slots and pockets had just a few tools. Since it was my first summer framing, I had no idea what to do with much other than my 22-ounce Estwing and a fistful of nails anyway. Seriously, I think I had the same pencil for the whole summer.
As my skills grew, I carried more and worked in more buildings. If I turned the apron around so the bags were behind me, I could move faster, climb through joists without spilling nails, and still reach everything. But there weren’t enough slots and pockets.
