Mother’s Day Gift: A Simple and (we hope) Sweet Little Project

Here’s a simple and sweet Mother’s Day project that Jack, Lexi and I made together for Theresa. It was fun too. Each of us could participate, it got us out of the house and I could disguise our activities in various shopping trips and errands I was doing anyway.

Step 1. Find a fun bottle. It can come from anywhere of course: yard sale, liquor store, antique shop, etc. This is a Rose’s Lime Juice mixer called Infusions I found at the grocery store.

Step 2. Consume (or decant) contents of said fun bottle, which may or may not deliver its own fun. Clean the bottle out with soapy water. Note: alcohol or any other chemical will be pretty hard on the plant so if it is an over 21 bottle, really get it clean.

Step 3.Remove label. On this bottle, the label was a decal, which I was able to cleanly remove with my Hyde Mini Glass Scraper.

Step 3A. There’s a label on the back that gives the glass a blue hue, which I decided to keep because it didn’t have any writing on it was visible from the front.

Step 4. Grab the kids and go on a flower expedition. This is fun. Well, I had fun. And in looking for roadside flowers, it’s a kind of cool way to look at the world. We found these just up the hill from our grocery store.

Where we live wild daisies are in bloom this time of year. And then there are the flowering weeds that, if they didn’t grow any- and everywhere, might be considered beautiful, which we used as a sort of baby’s breath to fill out the bouquet. And, what I like, is that it gets the kids in the game, outdoors, and generally engaged in making something that makes their mom happy.

Step 5. Fill the bottle with water, put in the flowers and…
