Our kitchens are the soul of health and home, so we’re combing through cupboards, cabinets and over counters to find out of that’s really true. Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee, author, and bona-fide yogi Mariel Hemingwayjoins us to talk food, fitness and more. It’s been said that all good parties end up in the kitchen, well that’s where ours starts. Jeff Devlin, host of HGTV’s Spice up My Kitchen pulls up a chair and tells us about his latest home-work assignment.
Mariel shares that as a way to survive her crazy family, she has chanted her way through a lot of stuff and has tried every type of diet to find the simple things that works best for herself. Through trying virtually everything, she discovered that eating and exercise isn’t one-size-fits-all. Her advice: You have to find what works best for you.
Theresa asks about Jeff’s favorite spice only to learn, surprisingly, that he’s never been asked that question before despite having remodeled over 100 kitchens on Spice up My Kitchen. Plus Jeff hints at a new show on DIY and talks about some of the cool products he saw at the Kitchen & Bath Show.
On this week’s FixitUpFinds segment, Theresa raves about the new Generations Vanity by American Standard and Mark talks about the Platform Bed Lift Hardware. And in honor of Theresa’s birthday we’re talking chilled beverages: Subzero Wolf has produced 2 million ice cubes—great for chilling Narragansett Beer or making cocktails.
Mariel is the author of three books, nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. A yogi, Mariel has hosted a yoga series with yoga guru Rodney Yee. Find out more at MarielsKitchen.com.
Jeff spent most of his early life “borrowing” tools from his dad and taking everything in the house apart, and then trying to put it back together. Although always intrigued by carpentry, life steered him in another creative direction. Jeff has been working in television for almost 10 years, but it was actually on the production side of things. From commercials to concerts and even a few renovation shows, he was always the one behind the scenes. Now in front of the camera, he’s at home being able to combine his love for both television and carpentry. Jeff’s love for fixing things and strong attention to detail has led him to independently accomplish the complete renovation of two old Pennsylvania farmhouses, one of which is the house of his dreams that he shares with his wife, two children and one crazy chocolate Lab.
