Nailing off the 100-year-old roof deck

Mark nailing the old roof deck

It takes more than just tearing off the old shingles to get ready for a new roof.

Some of the nails holding the 100-year-old roof deck down have wiggled their way out of the material throughout the years, just enough to make them proud.

So after the muscle-work of ripping and stripping the old roofing material is done, those nails need to be pounded back down. Mark also nails off the deck with new nails to make sure it’s super-secure.

Our new synthetic slate roof has a warranty for 50 years, and we’d like the roof deck underneath to keep up.
