It appears that younger generations are valuing non-fossil fuel energy sources than older generations. And, by a lot. A new survey from E.ON found that 81 percent of Gen Z and 74 percent% of Millennials would pay more for a property that came with a sustainable energy solution, like electric vehicle charger, solar panels, or heat pump.

And if a property doesn’t meet minimum energy efficiency standards? 80 percent of Gen Z, 78 percent of Millennials, and 64 percent of Gen X say they would reject it.

A new Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor report reveals the top companies that are falling short of their net zero energy goals. Specifically, among 25 major global companies – from Amazon to Volkswagen – that have stated net-zero or carbon-neutral commitments, only 1 has a carbon commitment of ‘reasonable integrity.’ And that’s the Danish shipping company Maersk.

The study also shows there is no standard governing net zero goals or how they are achieved. In addition, only 13 of the 25 companies have committed to explicit emission reductions. And those firms that were on track to reduce their total value-chain emissions only by an average of 40 percent. That’s a lot different than net-zero.

What do you think about homes with sustainable features like energy sources? Specifically, would you pay more for a sustainable home?
