What home trends would you like to see disappear?
Oh, now that’s a fun question. After thinking for just a moment, Theresa had three to share with the BobVila.com writer Terri Williams.
Her top 3 trends that she’d like to see exit the goals of home designers and bloggers? So those are open floor plans, white-on-white rooms, and perfectionism.
Why not design for real life? And just say goodbye to the glamorized afters that make our day-to-day lives feel less than. It’s just not attainable, trying to reach the goal of an image in a magazine or on an Instagram feed. Just try to see them make dinner or watch a movie with family in those spaces. So those cherished and popular afters aren’t made for the reality of a busy-hectic family life.
And we know from experience. Because what you don’t see is usually a truck or storage garage full of belongings that aren’t yet loaded into the afters you see on TV. Life gets real inside the storage spaces, and it’s not seen on the after shots.
Real life isn’t about a home trend, but trends do inspire our home life.
