News: Paint Rails? Weather-related Repairs + Tree facts

Workers are painting railways white in the U.K. It’s to help keep the rails cool and reduce the risk of laterally buckling during the heatwave. 

Rails can be up to 68 degrees hotter than the air temperature, and it’s expected to reach around 104 degrees Fahrenheit in London. (We hope the white paint helps keep the rails safe for passengers.)

Severe weather-related or climate-related issues caused unexpected home repairs for about 1 out of 3 homeowners in the past year, according to a new survey from home insurance group Hippo

But that’s not the worst news from the survey. 43 percent of homeowners have delayed home maintenance due to inflation, and only 20 percent are setting aside money for home maintenance. And unfortunately, delayed home repairs spread and grow like unchecked cancer.
