Wait. Does oxygen bleach clean leather?

Can you use OxiClean on leather?

Hi Mark and Theresa,

You were great on New Day today, however I missed the tip for removing mildew, could you reply with that tip and if it can be used on leather and synthetic materials too?

Thanks so much for the helpful tips – I have an old MG TD that has mildew on the leather(?) seats and some rust on the chrome wheels, so I’ll be using your WD-40 tip to remove the rust! So pleased to be able to do that myself – thank you!!

Hi AC,

Thanks for watching! And that’s a great question. We were showing how to remove algae from deck boards, which is a more common problem these days.

Oxygen bleach can be used for everything from laundry to deck boards to patio furniture, but it’s not safe for use on leather—whether it’s a jacket or an antique convertible’s droptop according to the popular brand that we showed on New Day Northwest. So, keep your leather seats safe, and try a homemade solution of 50-50 rubbing alcohol and water. Use just a bit on a inconspicuous area, just in case it there’s an unexpected reaction with your leather. Hope it works out. And, I hope the WD-40 worked on those chrome wheels.

Tip: It’s a good idea to test detergents you haven’t used before on an inconspicuous spot to make sure there are no adverse reactions. Always take a few minutes to read the instructions, even if they are in 4 point font like on the OxiClean can.
