We have finally agreed that we need to replace our original front door to our 100+ year-old American Foursquare home. Mark has been pushing for this since the first winter he realized the door was leaking like crazy. I’ve been attached to the charm of the original door and the mail slot–that he keeps reminding me that we don’t actually use. And we even actually taped over the mail slot several years ago when we attempted to make the doorway less ‘breezy.’
I finally agree that the charm of our door isn’t worth the energy loss. It’s time to trade in our door. And we’ve settled on fiberglass since they are four times more energy efficient that wood doors. I’ve been trying out new doors on Therma-Tru’s website in their My Saved Doors program. It’s actually made it easy for me to put together different looks and combinations of glass, and then email Mark the links. He can weigh-in on his opinions at his leisure.
One door that has sparked my eye is the new Classic-Craft Canvas Collection fiberglass doors feature a smooth, paintable surface designed with the performance and elegance of the Classic-Craft line. I like the idea of a paintable door, so we could customize the look of our entryway with a bold red or blue.
If you are considering doors, too, check out the My Saved Doors. And here’s a rundown on the features of the Canvas Collection.
-Paintable surface allows homeowners to adapt door to home interior and exterior finishes.
-Doors feature wide center panels and rich embossment details that rival high-end custom wood doors.
-Available in five door styles with 11 decorative glass and Low-E glass options.
